Mapping your locations, adding and mapping hazards.
Safe Ag Systems provides the ability to add farm locations to your safety system. This enables you to map boundaries of your properties and mark the location of hazards.
The location function is also linked to multiple areas of the Safe Ag Systems app, so it is important to map your locations early on in your system setup. For example, Emergency Plan information is entered specifically for a particular location, the On Site/Off Site function relies on the setting of location boundaries in order to track what property your employees are situated on.
If you have multiple locations that are geographically separated, you are required to map these in separate location tiles.
Initially your system will have one location tile named after your entity that can be mapped.
This tutorial will outline the process for:
Mapping your Locations
Business > Locations
To map your first location click on Edit Map located on the pre-loaded location.
Note – To create a new location click Create New and follow the same steps as below.
Amend the locations name if required and then enter the region/town and postcode of the location. Scroll down to show the world map.
Note: To make this process easier change the map from satellite to map by clicking the Map button in the top left hand corner. This makes it easier to find your location on the map.
The Map will then change to show as per below.
From here, hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom the map into your general farm location.
Note – Keeping the mouse pointing to the location on the map you wish to zoom into, helps to guide the zoom function.
Once you have zoomed in to your general area using Map view, change the map back to the satellite view by clicking on the Satellite button. You should now be able to locate your exact property.
Ensure that the whole block you need to set a boundary for is on screen. You will now be able to use the Map Outline Tool that is located in the top middle of the map window to map out the boundaries of your property.
Note – the Hand Icon enables you to click and drag the map around.
The Map Outline Tool works in the following way;
- Click on the icon and then go to a corner of one of your location boundaries. When hovering over the map the mouse symbol will show a small cross hair symbol.
- Click once to begin the mapping process. A line will begin to follow your mouse from this point.
- Follow the outline of your property and click wherever you need the line to change directions and a swivel point will be placed.
When connecting back to your starting point, the cross hair symbol becomes a hand. Click to connect the lines and your mapped location will change shade.
Once you have completed mapping your boundary it will the selected area will become shaded.
If you are in the process of mapping a boundary and you need to start again click the Map Outline Tool button and this will start the process again. You can also restart the process by clicking the Delete Boundary button.
Once you have finished click Save and you will be returned to the Locations page, where your tile will now show your mapped location.
If you need to make changes to your location after you have mapped and saved it, click Edit Map on the tile in the Locations section and you can then use the white swivel points (dots) on the boundary to click and drag the boundary line accordingly. Click Save to save any changes you make.
