Adding a New Chemical

The Chemical Inventory is your chemical register and also provide access to important information such as the SDS. The Chemical Inventory also enables accurate usage records to be maintains so you always know how much you have on hand.

On Desktop

  1. In the side menu, select Inventory > Chemicals then click Add New.

  2. Complete the form as required including Opening Quantity.
    Any information put into these fields will be available offline.

  3. (Optional) Upload an image by clicking on the image tile and upload a saved image.
  4. Safety Data Sheet – The safety data sheet field is a URL link to either
    1. the manufacturer's online Safety Data Sheet, or
    2. the manufacturer's webpage for that chemical which contains a link to the SDS and Label (recommended). By linking the landing page for the chemical it ensures the link is not broken when the manufacturer updates the SDS or Label.
  5. Set a date to review this information and give yourself a 30 day reminder notification. 
  6. Fill in the Hazard Information that can be found in the GHS Classifications within the Safety Data Sheet. Section 2 contains the hazard information - Safework Australia provides a Factsheet and Poster which may be useful when identifying the classification of chemicals:

7. Select the relevant PPE Icons that should be worn while using the specific chemical

Website links (eg. SDS) will only be accessible if you have mobile phone service. If you have poor connectivity where workers may need to access the SDS consider including critical information in the Notes and Instructions fields such as First Aid Measures from Section 4 and Spill instructions from Section 6 of the SDS.


On App

  4. Safety Data Sheet – The safety data sheet field is a URL link to the manufacturers online Safety Data Sheet or landing page (see comments in the Desktop instructions above)
  5. Set a date to review this information and give yourself a 30 day reminder notification.
  6. Fill in the Hazard Information that can be found in the GHS Classifications within the Safety Data Sheet (see comments in the Desktop instructions above).
  7. Select the relevant PPE Icons that should be worn while using the specific chemical
  8. Tap Save.
